Coaching Journal (1) – How to grow faster as a coach
![]()
The new coaches are always keen to understand more about the practical things of a coaching business, while the more established ones would appreciate some new ways of reaching their ideal clients.
As I share in my classes with students at ICA (icoachacademy.com), our journey is never linear, so the only sustainable work that you can do is the inner one. You are becoming more experienced along with your practice hours and this is also how you start attracting what you love. But how can you practice more and get experience faster?
A student of mine who’s just starting out in a market where coaching is new, asked me if it is possible to coach on the phone in this case, where there is so much untraveled terrain regarding coaching services.
I remember that I had the same issue when I started seven years ago, in Romania, so as much as I could I reflected my answer with that perspective. At the beginning you are hesitant and your whole attention is focused on your limited skills, so it might seems to you that seeing the client in person would help you perform better.
In many southern European countries, this is a cultural thing as well. It is far more important to get together with your client in person. The reality is that, as difficult as it may seem, you can be present and deeply listen and see your client in a phone coaching session too.
More and more in this Transformational Era coaching is getting global, very convenient at your disposal if you have an Internet connection or a secure landline. So from a market perspective you can reach more clients and this way develop your practice faster.
This is suitable for coaches with an empty cup mentality who dare to activate in the global arena.
Stay tuned. Next week I will have another point based on my journey, waiting for your questions and comments.
Cheers!
